Coco Turmeric Cashew

Turmeric is a golden bombshell. It’s been used traditionally for centuries for the prevention of diseases and is commonly known as a healing food in ancient medicine systems such as Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine. So now we have finally cottoned onto its magical powers over here in the Western world, what does it really do for us? Well my friends, this little golden tuber has a variety of benefits such as giving your immune system a boost, is anti-inflammatory, promotes great skin, helps with digestion, improves brain function and it may even help in the prevention of cancer development and growth. All this and more is due to its active ingredient, curcumin – a crazy powerful antioxidant that creates that vibrant yellow hue that turmeric is renowned for. Now, we want to get the full benefits from this magical golden spice and to be honest with you, it’s not as simple as just downing a spoonful of the stuff, as the active ingredient we spoke about earlier isn’t super easy to absorb. We want to enhance the availability so we can reap the rewards from our little golden bombshell. So how do we make this happen? A few little additions can make the world of difference.

  • Black pepper – Within black pepper is a little substance called piperine. When we mix this with turmeric, it can boost the absorption of curcumin by up to 2000%!

  • Healthy Fats – Turmeric is fat soluble, meaning it is better absorbed into the body when it is eaten with fats. Bring on the coconut milk!

  • Heat it up – Heat increases the solubility of curcumin and in turn has the potential to increase the bio-availability of it in your bod.

Luckily enough Ginger & Co has you covered, their golden latte blend has black pepper added into it already, is recommended to mix with coconut/soy/nut milks (hello healthy fats) and you heat it up to make it a wonderful golden mug filled with enhanced turmeric superpowers! Instead of drinking our turmeric today, we are going to use Ginger & Co’s Golden Latte powder to make a moreish snack (because hey, who doesn’t love snacks? especially when they are laced with our favourite golden powder).

Coco Turmeric Cashew


  • 1 cup of raw cashews

  • 1 Tbs Ginger & Co’s Turmeric Latte Powder (plus more to dust on after)

  • 1 Tbs dessicated coconut

  • 1/2 Tbs Coconut oil

  • ¼ tsp of salt


Preheat oven to 140°C and line a baking tray with parchment paper. In a bowl mix the coconut oil and Ginger & Co’s Turmeric Latte Powder together to make a paste, toss through your cashews to get a good coating. Next add in the desiccated coconut and salt and mix some more to get the coconut onto all the cashews. Using a spatula, transfer the cashews onto your lined tray, making sure you get all of the mixture out. Spread the cashews evenly across the tray. Pop the tray into the oven and bake for 10 minutes. Remove, toss the cashews around and place back in the oven for another 10 minutes until they are slightly browned and crispy. If you want a little bit more turmeric power then dust some more on top with a pinch of salt added to your liking.
